Located close to the intersection of Kentish Town Road and Camden Road our site is in the heart of Camden Town centre. Laid out as a residential district over 220 years ago and originally part of the manor of Kentish Townand the parish of St Pancras, Camden Town became an important location during the early development of the railways, which reinforced its position on the London canal network. Today Camden Town is strongly associated with alternative culture and is famed for its world-famous markets, cultural venues such as the Roundhouse and is close to Regent’s Canal. Camden Town is culturally diverse and well-known for its youthful energy that is especially self-evident at the weekends.
Our site is located within the Camden Town Conservation Area, which itself is split is into two distinct area, which includes the busy shopping streets of Camden Road and Kentish Town Road. The Camden Town ‘Conservation Area Appraisal and Management Strategy (2007)’ states that the buildings that form our site make “a positive contribution to the area”.
